Below are all the Glanmire Flood Relief Scheme Updates for 28-03-2024.

Good afternoon,

I am contacting you with the latest update on the work progress for the Glashaboy Flood Relief Scheme.

Copper Valley Vue

  • Work is continuing on the installation of new drainage and the construction of the temporary bridge, in preparation for the road diversion in mid-June
  • Work is on pause for the Easter Break. Work will recommence on Monday 8th of April.

New line

  • Work is continuing, with the installation of new drainage in this area.
  • Traffic management will remain in place over the Easter Break.

Meadowbrook

  • With the new drainage almost complete, works are progressing well for the installation of the new pumping station.
  • To facilitate the next stage for the pumping station, a road closure in front of houses 40-45 is scheduled from Tuesday, April 2nd, for approximately 4 days to facilitate the next stage of the pumping station installation. Access to these houses will be maintained over the Easter Break.
  • Road reinstatement within Meadowbrook is temporarily delayed due to the discovery of unforeseen ESB cables. Sorensen awaits ESB’s response; once resolved, tarring will commence.
  • The temporary footpath is currently in use, due to the works continuing on the R639

Hazelwood Road

  • Drainage works on the Hazelwood Road for this phase is now complete.
  • Traffic management on this road will be removed for the Easter Break and will resume on the Week Commencing Monday 8th of April, approx..
  • The next phase of work in this area is the installation of new drainage within the Hazelwood Shopping Centre car park. This work will be carried out at night, from approx. 6pm – 6am, from Monday 8th of April, and will take approx. 4 weeks to complete.
  • Access to all businesses in the Hazelwood SC will be maintained at all times.
  • Work is continuing behind the units and O’Connor’s Funeral Home, for the flood relief wall. This work is a vital part of the flood defence, along with the widening of the R639.
  • The footpath along the R639 is closed with an alternative route through Meadowbrook Estate.

Sallybrook Industrial Est.

  • Installation of new drainage and preparatory works for the flood defence wall are continuing. The construction of the flood defence wall will commence in July during the In-Stream season.
  • Reinstatement will be completed by COB today.
  • Traffic Management will be removed, and the road will return to its original layout shortly thereafter.

Due to the nature of these works, the above is subject to change. I will keep you updated as the work continues.
